You never have to settle. Here is what that looks like…

My philosophy in life is that you never have to settle and I have been “unsettled” for at least the last 10 years. It is an uncomfortable place, but it is also a place of incredible growth because the mindset is “ I have options, there is more to life than what I am currently experiencing”.

Along with this thought process, you also have to practice gratitude and contentment in order to successfully make the journey. Gratitude helps you to make sure that you are not taking your blessings for granted but it is not to be confused with deciding that you can’t have more in your life.

Contentment is another essential practice because the process that is often involved in reaching your goal can take some time. Meaning, if you are building a business, on track to lose 30 pounds or going back to school to get a degree, you have to draw on contentment to combat frustrations and obstacles that are sure to present themselves. Contentment simply says that I am grateful and ok with where I am – for right now.

When you settle, however,  the mindset is “this is the best that is available to me. Period. ”  There is often a resignation, sadness, low-grade anger and even cynicism attached to feeling like you settled.

Take a moment to look over the key areas of your life.

Are you truly content and just waiting for the right timing or have you settled along the way?
